Temperature and Your Pet
It is a big thing for us as a humans, and it is a real concern for our dogs too. They can die easily if left in a hot car in the summer, and will be injured if left out without protection in the winter. The temperate climate surrounding your dog is a real concern, and needs to be addressed as you can cause allergic reactions by not concerning yourself with hot and cold conditions.
Humidity can also cause hot spots, and lack of humidity can cause itchy dry skin. The base of good nutrition can help to slow these progressive allergic reactions, but without reactions to hot and cold temperatures, it can be a trigger for bigger allergic problems. Here are some suggestions to keeping your pet cool/warm:
Buy a cool bed for your pet/buy a sweater or jersey shirt for your dog to wear
Use cool water soaking to quickly cool your pet/keep dog boots handy in the winter to avoid cold feet
Use common sense when transporting your best friend-use a pet resort in the hottest and coldest times of year, if you cannot be sure of a safe transport of your pet to vacations or friends homes.
Invest in a digital temperature thermometer to ensure that your dog's internal temperature is where it needs to be.
Never cool or warm your dog too quickly, as it can cause too much shock in your pet
Visit your veterinarian when you find that you have a dangerous temperature range for your pet-100.5°F to 102.5°F is the normal range, dangerous ranges would be anything over 104°F or under 99°F.
