Carrots for Dogs
You can feed your dog all kinds of treats, chew treats, and bones, and they will just get fat! Imagine if you got a treat whenever you wanted it! That just will not make for a healthy life. If we all are given what we want, when we want it, it just will not be very appreciated, and we will have less ability to really enjoy our treats. For this reason, in our house, if a treat is given, it is only given infrequently, and it usually is a small cut up carrot. I am not talking about the already washed and cut carrots, as these are not healthy carrots for you and your dog. What is wrong with them is they are washed and cut in a chemical bath, that ensures they stay preserved. Whether it is a mixed lye bath or another variety, these carrots are not good for you or your best friend.Thinking along these lines, carrots that are organic and raw, are very good for your dog. They can be quickly brushed and rinsed, and they are great chew treats. I do think this is a great treat for your dog, versus any chew treat you can buy that comes from outside the US. Many dog treats that are crispy or hard chew treats, green in color or look like a bone, are from other countries with less than perfect nutritional values and standards. Many dogs elsewhere are fending for themselves, and other cultures see dogs as a part of their landscape, but not ever part of their family. They will never want to uphold the values we set up for our best friends, as they do not agree to this philosophy.
So, stick with what works, and do give your dogs treats, but not treats that will be unhealthy options for their diet and their life.
