Dogs and Chemicals

If you feed your dog any dog food, make sure you can understand every single chemical in the food. There is no reason to buy cheap dog food, because in the long run your dog will suffer, and the vet bills will be huge. The allergies, infections and weight issues will ensure your dog lives less than a happy life. So, take some time to read the labels. Holistic and Organic foods are not necessarily a guarantee of health, nor are frozen or refrigerated foods. The chances are better with these genres, but, you still need to read the label. The best way to tell if you have no chemicals or toxins in your dog's food, is to read the label. The preservatives that are OK are explained as a base of vitamins or minerals. The colors in dog food, yellow and red anything, will cause kidney problems. The inexpensive preservative called Ethoxygquin, is a really bad idea, as it is close to a stabilizer in rubber production, and other chemicals that kill weeds in your yard. There is no reason to buy a food that has such a powerful chemical in it, other than this addition makes the food shelf life in terms of years and not weeks.
